We take girls from
7 to 10 years of age.
We do all sorts of activities, crafts, games and theme evenings being some of
them. Theme evenings take the form of trying foods from other countries and
looking at the brownies in that country and some of the customs they have and
others. We have evenings where we do work on gaining the badges, which are such
a big part of being a brownie. Being a part of Girl Guiding UK we wear uniform
and make a promise. We have also recently updated our programme in line with
the new programme introduced by Girl Guiding UK. We were really pleased to be
given the gift of a grant from our local charity shop, which is run by volunteers
from all the local churches. This enabled us to buy new resources for all the
girls.
Several times during the year we have joint church services with the boys uniformed
groups, led by either Vicar David or David Hewitt or more often both. Sometimes
these are in church and sometimes at the nearby Scout camp where there is a
lovely outdoor chapel.
This year the unit will be celebrating 40 years since it was established so
we are hoping to hold an open evening later in the year to show some of the
things we do.
If you would like more information please phone Carol on 01484 306359.
Look forward to hearing from you.
We do all sorts of activities - crafts, games and competitions being some of
them. The programme is soon to undergo some changes, which makes this an exciting
time to join us.
We take girls from 5 to 7 years of age. The unit is run by two leaders, both
of who are very experienced in working with children.
Our Rainbows wear red tabards as uniform and make a promise similar to Brownies
but shorter.
